September’s astrology transmits a wallop of power and offers a bunch of energetic shifts. It gets going right from the start with the Virgo New Moon on September 6th, which brings with it a ton of opportunities. New Moons are all about beginnings and initiations, and in Virgo, it’s time to bring things out from the invisible realm and into physical reality. You may have creative impulses, keen visions or ideas, or just emotional urges that you’ve been entertaining and/or marinating on. This Virgo New Moon offers you a chance to bring these into form. Put your artist to work. Share and communicate what only the mind has been privy to up until now. Let your heart push you in a direction that has you taking tangible steps toward your goals.
This is the time to put plans into motion; to start new routines or establish healthier habits; to partner up with those who support your dreams; and to let your truest, most beautiful self just shine forward in all its authentic, expressive, and even messy glory.
Let this day set the tone for the rest of your year as you move toward getting what you want, speaking your mind, standing up in service for those who need a hand, and being a champion for your own well-being.
On September 10th, Venus moves into Scorpio, which deepens our connections. There’s no time to waste with frivolity. You’re meant to partner now with those who can go deep with you on your passions and support your instincts. It’s also a solid time to check in on all of your current relationships and make sure that you’re still in alignment with them. If they’re not but there’s still love there, you can have the type of conversation that cuts right to the core of an issue. Just know that the relationship may have to evolve in some way if it’s to stay on track.
Perhaps a shift in the power dynamics is in order.
Also, note that everyone is probably feeling the need to really assert themselves right now, so don’t be surprised if others come at you with more aggression than you’re used to. Just make sure that you don’t say something you’ll regret later; it’ll come back to haunt you in the weeks to come.
Mars, the planet of motivation and endurance, shifts into Libra on the 14th, which isn’t its easiest sign to maneuver. You have to take others into account when taking action, which doesn’t always seem necessary in certain situations. But you may find that everything you do has a bit of a chain reaction, so it’s better to pause a beat and think ahead in how your choices are going to affect anyone else. It may help to engage another directly in your plan so as to get their insight and feedback. That way, the steps you take are better informed and help you to be more actively in cooperation with others.
In all, lean more into any activities that involve you making connections with others. You will find kindred spirits who are on similar paths as you, and the wisdom they’ve already gained may help you unlock the door to breakthroughs you’ve been desperately trying to find.
The Pisces Full Moon occurs on September 20th, which can be one of the most intuitive, insightful times of the month. Pisces is all about a connection with Spirit, and a full moon wants to release and transform, so this combination is a potent one for cleansing and purification.
What do you need to let go of that isn’t in line with your Spirit right now? Are you holding on to some old way of being, a job, a dream, a relationship, an addiction, or even just a sweater that doesn’t speak to who you’ve grown into this year?
Well, this is the moment to yell, “Be gone!” Holding on to the past does you no good when you’re trying to shift into the You of the future. Now, if something (a passion, a calling, a love) has been taking longer than you hoped to fully realize but it’s still alive in your heart and your soul, then just give it some attention at this time and release any outdated concept of how it should’ve gone or been by now.
You may find that by forgetting how you once saw things allows you to see the present moment more clearly now, making way for a freshened approach and some forward motion.
On the 22nd, The Sun enters Libra, ushering in a season of greater balance, harmony, and collaboration. The next few weeks are all about working together to adjust anything that feels out of sync. The collective impulse centers connection and unity, so look to find ways to pull that into your own life. This theme has already been active this month, thanks to the other planet’s movements, but The Sun offers a lightness that the others can’t easily access. The mood becomes a little more buoyant, and everyone tries a little harder to be nicer. Take advantage of this where you can and ask others for what you need. Just make sure that you’re valuing them in return. This may be a good time to take stock of all exchanges in your life and to make sure that they feel balanced. You may need to up your rate or cut the amount of time you devote to something in half if it’s not offering you a fair return.
Don’t be afraid to stand up for what you need and believe. Now is the time to show others what you’re worth, and The Sun will help you translate that in a way that’s both kind and received.
On September 27th, Mercury stations to go retrograde, which occurs three times each year. This retrograde phase lasts until October 17th, and it has Mercury stalled in the sign of Libra, where it can actually utilize this time in its favor. Retrogrades are times to slow down and take stock of what you have in process. That’s why it’s not recommended to start anything new because greater attention should be paid to what you already got going on and refining it. So yes, try to avoid signing things or booking travel, but only so that your attention doesn’t get taken from what would benefit most right now. This is especially important for anything that involves you working with another. Partnerships and communication can take up most of your mind’s focus during this time, so make sure to reconsider any and all relationships and how the flow of ideas and opinions are working. You may find a need for greater balance there, so figure out how to readjust. This could be a time when you recognize it’s just not working too, so you can either consider how to abandon ship or, even better, speak to what’s not working and assert your needs for a more beneficial way of proceeding. Both endings and beginnings may feel dragged out at this time, but don’t force it. Savor this time, because once Mercury shifts back, you’ll wish you could go back to this time of slow down and rest.
Find gratitude in any stillness that you can and use the clarity that comes through to be certain that the direction you’re heading (and with who) is for the best.
