On Being Good Enough

By Brandon Alter:

Until you make the choice to validate yourself, you will never be good enough.

You will never be rich enough. You will never be thin enough or fashionable enough or creative enough. You will never have enough friends, or homes, or awards. You will never feel satisfaction, or purpose, or connection. You will never even be able to receive a compliment until you decide that you are WORTH IT for no other reason than that you are alive. That’s it.

You don’t have to earn worth, you just have to wake up to it. And no one can do that for you. Not Oprah, not Buddha, not even your mom. Only you can approve of yourself in a way that will actually mean something.

Only you can unfold the ten thousand layers of your heart and find love, true love, real love, unconditional, absolute, supreme love. Because when you have that self-love, babies, that’s when you have everything. And then being “good enough” was way too small a wish from the start.
