Notice What the Moon Moves in You

By Brandon Alter:

There's always something happening with the moon. Sometimes it's dramatic, such as an eclipse or a full moon; sometimes it's more subtle. But there's always an opportunity to connect with whatever phase the moon is in. If you Google around, you’ll find a ton of information telling you what it all means. But to be perfectly honest, I’m a little tired of being so literal with something that’s so magical. I don’t want to intellectualize a celestial event, I want to FEEL IT, work with it, harness its energy. And I wish that for you, too. Listen, at the end of the day, there is no wrong way or right way to work with the moon—there is only your way. So here’s my encouragement: MAKE IT UP. Be spontaneous and creative, be quiet and still, and see what the moon moves in you.

Look at it this way, there’s a ton of cosmic energy crackling up there in the heavens. And it’s available for you to use however you want. If you are ready to begin a new project, use the moon to charge it up. If you are ready to release some old baggage, let the moon take it away. Maybe you’re ready for a little bit of both! That works, too. This is a great time for starting a cleanse, for beginning a dream journal, for working with your ancestors. But it’s also a great time to dance yourself clean, to take the longest bath of your life, to cry yourself to sleep.

My advice is to set aside some time tonight or early tomorrow morning and just get out under that moon and notice what you feel. We don’t really get to choose how to work with the moon, the moon chooses how to work with us. So the more open and available you are to your heart and your intuition, the more magic you can make. Light a candle, charge your crystals, speak your dreams out loud. Or keep it simple and just meditate or breathe until you feel as though you’ve shifted somehow. The more you give yourself permission to DO IT WRONG and MAKE IT UP, the more fun you’ll have and the more magic you’ll make. The ancients didn’t have Google, and they did just fine. You will, too! Happy Eclipse Season my loves!
