By Angel Lopez:
Sagittarius Season is in full effect as we travel into December. Yup, I said it. December. We made it, somehow, to the last month of 2020, and we are so much stronger for it. Everything this year has tasked us with has been to help us gain greater truths about who we are capable of being. Sure, that came with some dark times full of challenging emotion, some heavy times where we couldn’t do anything but lay on the couch and stare, and probably some surprisingly joyful times, where we tapped into our deepest reservoir of presence and felt grateful for the day.
Now that we’re at the end of the year, we can take stock of who we know ourselves to be, given all that we’ve experienced, and we get to decide what defines our personal truth moving forward as well as what aspects of ourselves and life we choose to leave behind.
The month kicks off with a mental shift when Mercury moves out of the darker, emotional depths of Scorpio into the adventurous, exploratory space of Sagittarius, where it will be until the 20th. In Sag, Mercury likes to connect with its wisest of ideas and cement its beliefs. It also wants to help you get some answers for any outstanding personal questions you may have about your life’s direction or goals.
Know that it may be time to stop living in the questioning space and to start committing to some answers that you can take action on.
Sometimes it’s easier to stay in the head because it keeps you safe from having to put yourself out there. But with Sag, it’s going to want the ideas and beliefs out in the world, for all to see, so that you can start living fully from these truths and let them guide your reality.
On the 14th, we get the New Moon in Sagittarius, which continues with the themes around boldly attaching to your own honesty and integrity. You’re invited to truly speak your mind and claim what is yours. What do you want to put into action for this coming year? This doesn’t have to be accomplishment-based. This can be more about the version of you that you want to see in action more than what you want to be doing.
It may seem hard to believe your new life into existence, but you can start by believing yourself into being.
You can be bolder, more confident, more electric, more creative, more joyful, more optimistic, more fearless, or more compassionate. Just being by telling yourself that you are these things and the Universe will then align with that blueprint. Take a special note of your relationships and connect more deeply with those who support or already know this version of you.
You should be choosing to connect with the people who can be a part of your cheer squad and leave the Debbie Downers outside by the curb.
On the 15th, Venus enters Sagittarius where she asks you to partner even more with those whose beliefs are in sync with your own. You should be finding more time for those who know how to bring joy into the room with them. It’s especially important that you use that day to take stock of who’s got a place in your heart as Chiron, the planetoid of the wounded healer, moves direct after a long retrograde in Aries. This calls out to your inner child and says that it’s time to allow any longstanding wounds to come up for review. With this concurrent Venus shift, it may allow for some tough conversations to arise and truths to be revealed. If so, do your best to steer away from anger. In fact, do your best to release anger in situations where it doesn’t serve you. You may just recognize the origins of your anger triggers so you can make peace with the past and move forward.
Saturn and Jupiter deliver a one-two punch as they both enter Aquarius on the 16th and 19th, respectively. Saturn ends it two-year spin through Capricorn while Jupiter has been there for most of 2020. Now they enter some new airspace, where they’re more concerned with how you relate to the world at large. While in Capricorn, they were busy shutting down old structures that weren’t supporting the larger vision for your life, and they got busy doing their best to help you establish new ones. Now, in Aquarius, they can help you take your refined vision and express it to others. They want you to take greater responsibility for standing in your authenticity, for being bold and owning your unique gifts. On the 21st, they meet up for a rare conjunction, when they really ask you to answer the question, “Who do I want to be when the world sees me?” But the goal here isn’t to invent a new you, unless it’s indicative of a persona you’ve been suppressing for fear of standing in your truth. It’s time to wear your weird with pride. Don’t get caught up in how others see you. That’s just bait for future trauma.
You have the ability now to finally release any chains that have you kept from flying at your highest. You just have to be willing to step into the light and jump.
On the 21st, The Sun shifts into Capricorn and brings Mercury with it. So, these two will help you to keep your feet on the ground while making decisions for your life that may lean more toward the risky or bold. With Mercury in Capricorn, it wants to be more pragmatic, so you may feel challenged to fully lean into anything that feels “crazy”. And hey, baby steps are fine when it comes to making drastic changes, and you may feel like throwing it all away one minute and then backpedaling toward your old ways of being the next. It’s okay to think that way, as long as your action still supports the greater forward motion you want to make in your life. When in Capricorn, Mercury can actually be a great planner. So, utilize this time to strategize and dream some ideas for your year ahead. As we’ve seen, life can throw a mean curve ball so be prepared to pivot. But still, it’s important to think ahead and vision the kind of life you want to be living. It’s motivating and, with strong intention, manifesting too.
December 29th brings the Cancer Full Moon, which can be a time of real emotional cleansing. If you’ve had trouble mourning anything you were hoping would be this past year but didn’t happen, now is the time to feel it and release it.
This one may bring some challenge with it, as you’ll be desperate to make moves that just don’t seem feasible, but if you can make this a more of an internal process, you can find yourself tapping into some real creative inspiration and surprising truths. You may also just need to take a self-care day here. And haven’t you earned it?! Don’t feel overwhelmed by anyone trying to drag you down. Though you’ll feel called to the past in some ways, that doesn’t mean you have to revert to living in it. You can show up for situations that involve those from your history, or your family, but as the you that you’re growing into. And, if you feel emotionally overwhelmed by them, or even just the memories of the past, remember that they get to all go back into the past when you choose to release them while you get to march into the future.
It’s vital that you keep yourself geared toward that future and imagining all of the fantastic possibilities it has in store for you.
